Burgas has taken another step toward strengthening its position as a health and spa tourism destination by joining the Bulgarian Union of Balneology and Spa Tourism.
The organization plays a key role in promoting wellness tourism in the country, and many of its major events in recent years have been hosted in Burgas.
Local authorities described the membership as a natural continuation of the strong cooperation developed over the past two years. The city has already hosted major industry events, including an annual congress and a national conference on health and wellness tourism.
Joining the union is seen as recognition of Burgas’s growing importance, combining natural resources, rich history, and modern strategies in medical and wellness tourism.
Among the region’s main advantages are the mineral springs of Aquae Calidae and the therapeutic resources of Atanasovsko Lake, known for their health benefits.
City officials plan to continue working closely with the union to enhance the region’s international presence and to implement high European standards in health care and prevention.
